The purpose of IMar’s Critical Thinking Academy is to help bridge the technical skills and critical thinking skills gap.
Enrollment in this course will help you to improve in ALL areas of IMar’s “Big 6” critical thinking skills: Creative Problem Solving, Analytical Thinking, Working Collaboratively, Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, and Social & Emotional Intelligence.
IMar Critical Thinking Academy’s main objective is to give you skill improvement techniques that you can implement immediately at school, work and in your personal life.

What is the Current State of the Job Market?
Students will brainstorm the top job skills that they think that employers want in their employees.
Students will analyze the current skills wanted in today’s job market and rate their current level of job skills.
What are the Skills that Employers Want that are Rare?
What Skills Lead to Success?
Students will view and analyze the video titled, “Soft Skills in the Workplace” and respond to the video in a quick-write. Students will view and analyze “infographics” based on the Big 6 job skills. Students will share their thoughts on the statistics, information provided and share any personal connections.

The Power of Focusing on your Strengths
Why Should I Focus on My Strengths?
Students will explore their personal strengths and weaknesses. Students will work towards developing a “Growth Mindset” that focuses on improving their strength areas versus struggling to improve weak areas. Students will view and analyze a video based on “Strength Focus” and share their thoughts. Students will read and analyze quotes and share their thoughts.

Employing Your Creative Skills is Empowering
Students will take notes on the creative process. Students will practice their creative problem solving skills. Students will learn about and take notes on “Problem Solving Strategies.” Students will collaborate with other classmates to find creative solutions to real world problems.

Communication Rules the Nation
Students will analyze how much time they spend communicating and where the time is spent. Students will view and analyze a video about the challenges that are created because of BAD communication. Students will take a Communications Skills Test and a Temperament Test and analyze their results. Students will take notes on skillful listening. Students will view and analyze a video about speaking and listening. Students will participate in the “Train Story” activity.

Analytical Thinking and You
Students will assess their current level of Analytical Thinking. Students will take notes on strategies to improve their Analytical Thinking skills. Students will complete the NASA: Moon Exercise.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
Students will view and analyze videos that display examples of good and bad teamwork. Students will collaborate with other students and share their thoughts.

How Socially & Emotionally Intelligent are You?
Students will define what social intelligence is. Students will take a quiz to assess their current level of social and emotional intelligence. Students will take notes on how to improve their social and emotional intelligence. Students will view and analyze a video about how to become more socially and emotionally intelligent.
